第一種的蕨菜完全是個誤會，依照農委會提供的資料：過溝菜蕨(或稱"過貓")為蹄蓋蕨科，與網路所傳含致癌物質的拳蕨（碗蕨科）為不同植物。過溝菜蕨並無致癌成分。過溝菜蕨為蹄蓋蕨科，學名： Diplazium esculentum (Retz.) Sw.，與拳蕨（碗蕨科）學名： Pteridium aquilinum (L.) Kuhn var. latiusculum (Desv.) Underw. ex Heller為不同作物。
