這段影片實際狀況是知名的「拉姆施泰因航展事故」，發生於 1988 年 8 月 28 日，在德國法蘭克福附近的拉姆施泰因空軍基地，當時是航空展的最後一天，有多支飛行表演隊伍先後向場內觀眾獻技。到了下午隸屬於義大利空軍的三色箭飛行表演隊卻失手撞機，造成相當嚴重的飛行表演空難。
