研究並未發現症狀改善，其研究目的是看氯西丁能否讓口咽部的新冠病毒早一點消失，以降低病患傳染給其他人的可能。此研究用氯西丁漱口咽部（部分受試者加上口咽噴劑），而新冠病毒主要在鼻咽部與下呼吸道，病患出來的飛沫還是會有從鼻咽與下呼吸道出來的病毒。
