外科口罩共三層，最外層防水層，中間吸附層，內層接觸口鼻，最重要是外層及中間層結構不能破壞，才有防病毒病菌飛沫。由於最內層的主要功能是吸附口鼻的汗水與髒污，所以如果墊紗布更換的話，應該是可以延長口罩壽命沒錯。
