日本目前並無大量土地遭輻射汙染之情形。福島縣內的各個自治團體，不斷進行去除放射性物質銫的除污作業。放射性銫因本身也有半衰期（銫134約2年、銫137約30年），與事故剛發生當時比較起來已減少了許多。現在福島縣居住空間的輻射劑量已相當有限，空氣中不存在放射性銫，所以也不會因呼吸而吸入放射性物質。
