連結內的 petitions.whitehouse.gov 這個網站確實是由美國政府所架設的請願網站。

根據網站說明，任何年滿 13 歲的人都可以連署請願案，在跨越 100,000 人的連署門檻之後，美國政府就會試著在 60 天內回應。

另外，網站說明也有提到，違反參與條款的請願，例如主題與政府事務無關的提案，美國政府也可以選擇不回應。
