目前並沒有非常明確的結論與證據可以指出是否染髮劑與某些癌症確實有正向關連，多數醫療專家還是認為，這件事情可能是跟「長期暴露」有關，也就是說，偶爾染髮的人風險可能比較小，但如果長期、持續有染髮的行為，或接觸到頭皮的話，風險就還是存在。因此目前相關的研究還在持續進行中，但在明確的證據出來之前，醫師還是會建議你「不要常染髮」，另外絕對要「避免染髮劑接觸頭皮」。
