台灣癌症基金會營養師賴怡君表示，過貓又稱「過溝菜蕨」，被先民與原住民視為滋補的健康菜，具有清熱解毒、利尿的作用。過溝菜蕨耐雨，產期集中在夏季；當遇颱風或下豪大雨時，為民眾最易取得的綠葉蔬菜。
